I also think that we should consider freshening up this website.  A professionally designed website will assuage any doubt that what we're trying to achieve is real and not fly-by-night.  I'm not trying to offend but the website gives off a little bit of a sketchy vibe.

We can bid out the redesign to people on elance.com; obviously we should set a small budget and jettison the bid if noone wants to do it at our budgeted price.

Is the company symbol stock material, or was it custom made, i.e., designed by a professional?  If not, then we should consider hiring somebody to come up with a symbol for us.

I'd like to hear feedback whether positive or negative.

Sofar we have spent more than 6000 $ for the website, only 1000 $ taken from the donations, and when we have used 1000 $ to build the forum, more than 40 members have enrolled and payed the expenses, the forum really paid for itself, the same with the billboard we payed 850 $ for it, but after 15 days that money has been compensated from abundant new donations that evidently come from people on the highways who have seen the billboard. So ,my experience tells me if we use the money to improve foregen visibility we will have it back from new donations, So, i am available to redesign the website and make  advertising via Google Adwords  and advertising with targeted magazines that have readership totals exceeding 15,000, but we have to use the money coming from the donations.

Now,when it comes to money  i want to clarify a misunderstanding ,Foregen is not  a business company, and donators are not investing their money .When somebody donates to Foregen , by law no one can take that money, it must be used only for foregen purposes. If i support a non profit i believe in its mission and i support its values , because they are my values too ,and i just give the money to it because i already know that money will be used to achieve the  goal , and to me this is enough.Despite that some people say :"I do not like what foregen is doing with MY money……",of course these people are suspicious about us anyway and do not believe we are going to use "THEIR" money to achieve the goal, so , why do they donate it to us?These people, instead of thinking to their personal fears and  put their ego first, should change their spirit and understand once for all, that with"THEIR money" the entire comunity of circumcised will benefit first .If they can not understand this spirit , then ,they can keep "THEIR" money,we do not need their donations .When i give the blood i do not care what the doctors do with my blood and who benefits from it, actually ,i do not want to know it.Regarding the logo, the symbol of foregen is a rose with its bud, it took me some months to think to the  right idea and i have personally designed it.

Another fundraising method (this one should surely get the monetary traffic flowing) would be to ask porn blog webmasters/writers to represent Foregen.  It would  not  be advertising (like showcasing animated banners on the sides of webpages) for which anyone would have to pay–-–it would be  publicizing.  It would be asking bloggers to simply  write  about the organization. It shouldn't exactly cost anything.  It might at first seem a little indecent–––having this charity featured among explicit material–––but porn-associated advertising (publicizing) is a gold mine. The webmaster of TheUncutCock.com on a number of occassions thoroughly covered the topic of foreskin restoration, so he should willingly and gladly write about Foregen. ManhuntDaily.com should also be happy to announce Foregen. Another notable is GayDemon.com/blogs/, and irrelevant to porn but most considerable is The New York Times¹ ².

I don't mean to breed any sort of discomfort here, but the matter's about money and I'm just helping as I best can.

How much would it cost per month to have Foregen as the first or second or third result when searching for "foreskin restoration" in Google?

This is an interesting idea.  I've just briefly looked over Google's advertising terms here and here, and it seems like they can customize their service according to one's advertising budget.  I imagine that maintaining a top position on Google will not be cheap, but it's definitely something to investigate further.  Thank you for bringing this to light.

Advertising will only mark the site in yellow and will make it more suspectable to most searchers as it may look to them as a commercial site.

I'm talking about being on top of search results when searching for "foresking regeneration", which doesn't require any payment to Google, but wise html tagging, keywords, title tagging, and meta tags. If foregen webmaster is proficient enough in these fields and understands the urgency in making it to the top of search when searching for "foreskin regeneration", he would manage to make it by himself. If not, there are 3rd party companies who expertise in doing so.

Cool

I think getting more people to understand that foreskin regeneration goes beyond anti circumcision would be a great help. If they know this is a small step in the bigger plan of regenerative medicine, many more people would consider donating.

Hi Mikha,

Yeah, I didn't mean Google Adwords, I meant SEO Optimization, as we're not advertising a product per se, rather just trying to get the message out.

I do think that optimizing search results so that Foregen starts climbing up the charts should be one of the webmaster's highest priorities. I heard about Foregen via the Wikipedia page; when I googled "foreskin restoration" a few months later I couldn't find Foregen anywhere.  I went through the cumbersome process of going back to the Wikipedia page in order to find the website.

Here's a link to an SEO tool recommended by Tim Ferriss, author of the "Four Hour Work Week".

I'm 100% with you, any new advertising should come solely from the donations.  Hence my idea for a moneybomb: we set a clear goal, e.g., a full-page advertisement in one of the aforementioned magazines, and then say we need to raise X amount of money in order to have it printed.  Circulating the idea to the community should occur a couple of days beforehand. We can use the advertisement in Chino, I think it was really good.

I'm thinking that the money bomb should occur during Genital Awareness Week.  Please understand that for print you have to negotiate a space many months in advance of publishing

Now,when it comes to money  i want to clarify a misunderstanding ,Foregen is not  a business company, and donators are not investing their money.

This is completely understood; where would a donator come up with the idea that he/she is investing in Foregen?

If i support a non profit i believe in its mission and i support its values , because they are my values too ,and i just give the money to it because i already know that money will be used to achieve the  goal , and to me this is enough.

Money is scare, especially money via donations.  Consequently, people who donate a potion of their wealth scrutinize their benefactor; obviously you don't want to donate your money to some guy who will just pocket it.  Thus, to assuage any doubt you obviously want to make this charity come across as professional as possible.

Regarding the logo, the symbol of foregen is a rose with its bud, it took me some months to think to the  right idea and i have personally designed it.

Ok, it looks good, I just didn't know if it was a stock symbol that maybe could be dressed up some more.

Dan

Hi everybody,

One last idea and I'll hop off my soap box: becoming listed in a charity network.

There exists multiple websites which help guide people to a service organization of their choice.  Just type in a keyword on the home page and voilà: multiple charities to which one can donate.  The two big ones that I've heard of are:

http://www.charitynavigator.org and

http://www.networkforgood.org

Network for Good has multiple anti-circumcision organizations listed, but not ours.  It may represent another avenue to get the word out and raise money.

Understood, but if approval of 501(c)(3) status is imminent, then in my opinion it's something that is worth looking in to.

Dan,

Both of the websites you have mentioned are something we have already known about for several months and plan on using in the future and have been discussed on the main supporters forum (obviously that's not something you could know if you haven't signed up), but like many things that will help us grow, we can't even begin to pursue these until we have the 501(c)3 status.

I'm really certain that if 'foresking restoration' / 'foreskin regeneration' would be a TOP 3 result in Google search Foregen would see a very positive change in circumcised men's awareness.

I've talked to a very quality SEO service, and for about 800$ per month, Foregen.com can be at the very top of Google search, with foregen youtube video(s) appearing in the search too, and related articles from other related foreskin sites and articles pointing out to Foregen as a very respecful site.

I would love pay 100$ per month for this, and would there be more people who are willing to pay/contribute, foregen.org could really rise on the web.

Hi Enzo,

I have access to Dreamweaver and could give the redesign a try at no cost to the community. I'd like to challenge myself just to get a learning opportunity with the software. If you don't like it you have no obligation to pay me. I'd just like to try and contribute to the success of this project any way I can. One donation is all I can afford as a student, but I hope to get more supporters to join from people I know.

Like Dan, I got a slightly sketchy vibe from the site at first because,

A: It looks kind of amateur/template-based and uses an uneasy color palette (no offense, it's not terrible).

B: The links are confusing, as are the split forums.

C: You're asking for cash. Any site asking for cash gets a red flag for any experienced web surfer.

If you'd let me use the assets for the site I'd give it a shot. I think it really could just use a few tweaks.

Ryan

http://www.google.com/grants/n…..index.html there is the google grant scheme for not profit organisations! and doing a few searches there are numerous groups that give out grants to NPO's would be good for your representative account to look through them :) has anyone looked into cheap TV advertising? or radio? (internet radio and airwaves?)
