Well, we did get a $60 donation from a person who did an internet search for foreskin regeneration.  The guy posted over on foreskin-resotration.net.  Such people should be congratulated in a reply post and gently encouraged to make a monthly donation of that amount.

Other than that I heard some larger donors might come out of the woodwork when foregen gets charity status in the United States.

I think I'm more of the expectation, but yeah.

But yeah. A suggestion is everyone who wants to support foregen and has a facebook, etc, should post foregen updates on their account. This gives greater viability. That's what I'm currently doing. Hopefully it will incite more people to join the cause and give donations:)

Yeah we need to get celebratory sponsorship like Ben Affleck(who really hates circumcision) I'm sure they can donate huge sums of money…Only problem is like alphanorth mentions forgen has to be an establish chariety group so they can use it as a write off.

This is definitely a great idea! I also think that if we use a little bit of the money we already have so far to invest in small advertising, we could double or triple the amount we invest into it. Also just individual supporters, on their own, running off many copies of the Foregen pamphlets and leaving them at community places where these kinds of “bills” are posted; a laundromat, a telephone pole, a bulletin board at the local cafe, wherever. You never know how many males secretly dislike their circumcised status, and would have their interest very piqued by just seeing such a thing somewhere around! Laugh

I would look strongly to California as soon as the non-profit status is granted.  I don't have a lot of research right at hand, but it seems to be the largest state with the most active pro-foreskin groups.  Any chance of celebrity interest wouldn't hurt either.  I don't want to jump too far ahead, but advertising in lower cost publications like alternative weekly papers (like The Chronicle in Austin, or The Stranger in Seattle) could get the foregen brand in people's minds and start them thinking more deeply about what circumcision is really about.  As mentioned, some smart advertising could pay off many times over.

When you think about it, relative to the wealth in this country (even in slow economic times), even $500,000 is not a lot of money for some people.  Support from people like those in this forum is so important, but I have a feeling that if we are smart and present ourselves as a serious organization, we may find that it only takes a handful of high income donors (maybe even just one or two) to get the research proposals underway.  As Mr. Aiello mentioned in his recent interview, foregen has the potential to provide not only great help for circumcised men, but also the opportunity to attract wealth and market demand as the general tide in the U.S. turns more and more away from circumcision.

Whoever (Jonathan Friedman or other administrator) manages Foregen's Facebook page should immediately add and message "Davey Wavey," a hugely popular gay blogger with a fan base of many tens of thousands. ¹ ² ³

His alias is a little infantile, but a considerable portion of his writing is serious and he is madly obsessed with his forcible circumcision. He would, so soon as he is informed about the organization by the organization, devotedly solicit donations from his readers, most of which also are gay (which already qualifies them to really know the value of being intact) and would greatly appreciate this cause.

He isn't very likely to respond to e-mail, so the best way by which to reach him is to use his Facebook wall and to otherwise message him via Facebook

Also: whoever does indeed message "Davey Wavey" should not leave out mention of Foregen's imminent charity status in the U.S.; that'll especially motivate him to endorse us.

Another fundraising method (this one should surely get the monetary traffic flowing) would be to ask porn blog webmasters/writers to represent Foregen.  It would  not  be advertising (like showcasing animated banners on the sides of webpages) for which anyone would have to pay–-–it would be  publicizing.  It would be asking bloggers to simply  write  about the organization. It shouldn't exactly cost anything.  It might at first seem a little indecent–––having this charity featured among explicit material–––but porn-associated advertising (publicizing) is a gold mine. The webmaster of TheUncutCock.com on a number of occassions thoroughly covered the topic of foreskin restoration, so he should willingly and gladly write about Foregen. ManhuntDaily.com should also be happy to announce Foregen. Another notable is GayDemon.com/blogs/, and irrelevant to porn but most considerable is The New York Times¹ ².

I don't mean to breed any sort of discomfort here, but the matter's about money and I'm just helping as I best can.

I am greatly encouraged by the advertising campaign… to put 2 and 2 together, maybe this is the way to reach celebs like Ben Affleck unhappy with their circ. California does sound like the ideal place to start. Maybe if you cause a stir there through advertising you could land a slot on a TV chat show discussing Foregen. I have no doubt this will be big news across the world when the goal is finally reached.

Another idea is… If you create an HTML banner just like the billboard graphic, users here could post the code on general activist forums etc. (in a non-spam way) and could potentially get more traffic here.

Congratulations on the advertising campaign… The billboard graphic is very well designed. It comes across as genuine and respectable, not another extremist organisation people will ignore…

All good ideas, and the billboard is a great step in the right direction! Laugh I, personally, am currently still trying to save up some $$ to become a Foregen Supporter. Frown

Can you set up reoccurring payments for smaller amounts? I’m one of the guys on a fixed income, but I get
a check 26 times a year. I think if you had a way people like me could donate
you could get some more support. If you could set up payments as low as 5 or 10
dollars at a time, you could get 130 to 260 a year, which is a bit more than
the 50 to become a supporter.

The more options the more support you can get…. I would be in line to sign up!

I would love to be a supporter!

I'm not sure on this, but I think the subscription via paypal is linked into how Foregen know's who has paid the $50 supporters fee.  From something I was looking at unrelated to Foregen, I know that paypal charges different fees for each transaction so they would collect more money if they just charge once rather than having multiple transactions.

If this couldn't be setup for whatever reason, people can always donate additional amounts over and above the $50 if they wish. Personally, I'd rather see people save their money up and subscribe for $50 to get full access to the site rather than make multiple donations which may or may not be over $50.

I agree with c@28. The member's forum is a fantastic source of information andt here are many great ways to get involved. The number of supporting members is growing fast and we have some great members who give real energy to the movement.

I realize that many of us out the have different financial situations but I strongly encourage everyone to try and make it to the member's forum and get involved! That said every ounce counts and ANY contribution is greatly appreciated :-)

I'm of the opinion that we should have small moneybombs to raise funds for strategic advertising placement.  While the billboard in CA looked great (thanks to everybody involved), it's not really focusing on our target audience, namely males (to a lesser extent females) who are aware of their deficiency and want to change it.

The advertising strategy should be two-fold: 1) advertising via Google Adwords; and 2) advertising with targeted magazines that have readership totals exceeding 15,000.

With reference to the former point, if I type in "foreskin replacement" in Google, Foregen is not in the top 10 results and therefore goes unseen.  Same for "foreskin restoration".  We should allocate some money in the budget for Google Adwords so that once people do stumble upon this crazy concept of regrowing foreskin, Google will quickly lead them to this site (many times people come across something and then google it afterwards).

With regards to the latter point, I have the Writer's Market 2010 Edition listing thousands of specialty and niche magazines, including circulation and subscription numbers. We should gather a list of the best magazines to target small (or full-page) ads.  I can think of a couple off the top of my head: Men's Health; Mother Earth News; Out (many gay men are interested in restoration); etc.  Upon finding out what an ad will cost (after heavily negotiating the price), we can have a small moneybomb here to raise the funds, thereby preserving the current money raised.

Using the power of Google and placing strategic advertisements is in my opinion the best way to get the message out, which will lead to more money being raised and get us closer to realizing our dream.

I appreciate feedback on my ideas.

I also think that we should consider freshening up this website.  A professionally designed website will assuage any doubt that what we're trying to achieve is real and not fly-by-night.  I'm not trying to offend but the website gives off a little bit of a sketchy vibe.

We can bid out the redesign to people on elance.com; obviously we should set a small budget and jettison the bid if noone wants to do it at our budgeted price.

Is the company symbol stock material, or was it custom made, i.e., designed by a professional?  If not, then we should consider hiring somebody to come up with a symbol for us.

I'd like to hear feedback whether positive or negative.

-Dan
